As we head into February, Black History Month & Aspenne's birth month - we decided it would be a great time to feature some of the great titles we're reading!
On Day 8, we're reading:
The Wizard of Oz by L. Frank Baum, illustrated by Carley Gledhill
(Version: Penguin Bedtime Classic)
Book Summary:
When a tornado hits her small Kansas town, Dorothy is swept away to Oz To find her way back home, she follows the yellow brick road to The Emerald City and picks up a scarecrow, a tinman, and a cowardly lion, on their way to seek help from the Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Our Thoughts:
The Penguin Bedtime version of this classic story keeps things short, simple and sweet. This version, though we know the longer version is even more detailed and a wonderful story, summarizes the Wizard of Oz in a very child-friendly way. Love that the illustrations are showing black characters, like The Wiz and can't wait until Aspenne is old enough to compare and contrast the movie and book. This one is a keeper!
